Asus previews their EEE Pad and EEE Slate

Asus essentially created the netbook category on their own and now they have entered the tablet race. After seeing the entire Eee Pad line-up we are accurate in our belief that Asus are the soon-to-be leaders in the mobile technology computing world. With the CES 2011 official annoucement of the entire Eee Pad family we know this year is going to be huge for Asus.

Eee Slate EP121 is a large, high-powered (Core i5), has a Wacom digitizer for exceptional pen input, and ASUS bundles a Bluetooth keyboard just to make sure you don't get any ideas about trying to pen-input a novel. Despite the 12.1-inch size, the tablet is still surprisingly thin and light. The capacitive touch-screen responds instantly to fingertip control for day-to-day use, while the capacitive stylus offers fine precision input and control. An on-screen keyboard is also complimented by support for an external Bluetooth keyboard for traditional desktop use.

The Eee Slate is available with 32GB or 64GB of SSD storage (expandable via SDXC), and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. All models have 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 2-megapixel camera, plus two USB 2.0 ports that provide full support for a wide range of standard PC peripherals, along with a mini-HDMI port that is ideal for connecting to external displays.

The EP101TC is powered by Nvidia's Tegra platform and promises to feature full Flash video playback (unlike Apple's iPad). The stylish keyboard docking station with standard touchpad and ports is what really separates the Eee Pad series from other iPad competitors we've seen so far. ASUS had two versions of the dock on display the the Computex pre-show event, one that resembles a standard laptop and one designed to fuction more like an all-in-one desktop with better speakers built into the front of the docking station.
