Cheap Chinese iPad Clones: A Look At These Inexpensive Tablets

I've been getting a lot of correspondence asking for information about the cheap Chinese iPad clones, knock offs, imitations, or replicas, etc. I often have to ask a few additional questions to figure out what the person means. Because the word "cheap" can have a lot of connotations.

You can say cheap and also mean inexpensive. You're implying that you don't want to pay full price for the clone (or as much as the original) but want to enjoy many of the same features for less money. Or, you can mean cheap as low quality, low performance, or something that uses inferior or throw away parts.

Some people think of the iPad clones in this way. They wonder how anything that cost so little could begin to perform or function like the much more expensive iPad. The thing is, there's many different models of this Chinese iPad clones available in all different price levels. Many of them do have similar features. Many of them look and function in the same way. But the quality level is different among them.

For example, the cheaper models (and there are some that go for less than $50. I've seen some for as low as $35) are going to be more bulky and heavy. They're not going to be as responsive or fast. They won't hold as much memory and they may use an unknown or older operating system that isn't expandable or open source.

Moving along, they are also iPad clones that run in the $50 - $100 range. These are of better quality and not as "cheap" if you're using that term to infer quality and performance. Most of the models in this range function fine, but they may have a little bit of a lag and have less memory capabilities. Still, many light users are thrilled with these. Because they weigh next to nothing, fit in a backpack, briefcase or purse, and are much more accessible than a larger laptop.

Finally, the iPad clones which I would not call "cheap" in terms of quality but which are inexpensive in price are the clones (usually referred to as an iPed or aPad) that have a fast and current processor and can accommodate a lot of expandable memory. These are often referred to ask the "rock chip" models because this is the processor that they use and this is partly responsible for their high performance. And it is the reason that many consider them to be one of the best of the inexpensive Chinese iPad clones.

They use the open source android operating system which has tons of apps and that number is growing every day. And, they have all of the features of the original like web browsing, email checking, texting, talking, reading ebooks, listening to music, watching video, and taking photos and video. All of these functions are fast with no lag or wait.

Yes, these rock chip models are less "cheap" in a few ways. The quality of them is higher but they cost a bit more. They've average out at around $150 which still makes them much less expensive than the original. They also have a decent amount of support and accessories available with them as they are becoming more and more mainstream.
