Apple has released its own official iPad carrying case, the ZML MC3611ZM/A, which has done well in the average iPad case review. Despite what critics may have said before the iPad was released (why, on earth, would we need a giant iPod?), the iPad has revolutionized portable computing and has found application in everything from publishing to medicine. Its sleek, simple and lightweight design make it much more portable than laptop PCs will ever be, but it also begs a very interesting question: how exactly do you carry it with nothing to cover and protect its screen? As its exposed screen is susceptible to smudges, spills and anything else that may come its way, if that goes, then consequently, so does the keyboard and the entire user interface system.

Among those who have purchased the ZML MC3611ZM/A, most have said that the strength of Apple's case is that despite the fact that it is a carrying case, it still remains sleek and does not add any bulk to the iPad. As such, it leaves the iPad just as portable (and more importantly storable) as it is without it. Additionally, the average iPad case review has also rated it positively due to the fact that it fits the iPad so snugly, making it next to impossible for it to fall out of the case. The downside of this however is the fact that this also makes it difficult to take it out for those who prefer to keep it out of the case at home. Furthermore, many people have complained that the combination of the material that the case is made from and the stitching that runs all the way around it hurts and digs into the fingers after extended use. Among those who have opted to switch to a different carrying case or simply go without it, the combination of these two factors is usually why.

In terms of the flip-able screen cover, (which doubles as a standing brace) it has received mixed reviews. Although many have said that they find it invaluable for standing up the iPad to watch media (something that can't safely be done with just the unit), others have said that it is insufficient and that the stand is still nowhere near secure enough. The holes for the power, dock port, headphones, etc, are also generally considered well-placed, but some have said that they also simultaneously inhibit the number of angles that you can usually watch media from, as it can't really be flipped around to different viewing orientations within the case.

Overall, the Apple case is considered a good solid case for the iPad, and the average iPad case review looked favorably upon it. Many have said that despite its imperfections, it still remains simply the best case on the market, and hands-down your best option for protecting your iPad during the rigmaroles of daily life. At the same time, however, as many retailers will try to over-charge for it (with units being sold for as much as $94) it is not something that you should be willing to pay more than the Apple direct retailers charge ($39.99). The bottom line is that if the case is designed to protect your iPad, then it does that job well.
