Last week I overcame a very serious problem; I managed lowering action on my acoustic guitar. I had difficulties playing my Carvin C250 at higher angle and I wanted to shift it to lower one but as nobody knew about it I had to play it as it was. One day I experimented and the trick worked and now I am able to give rest to my fingers and wrist and at the same time enjoy playing my favorite instrument without any difficulty. The process is very easy and even a newbie can do it, if he has the urgency and the basic material required to do that. Let me explain how I lowered action on my Carvin C250.

Well in this kind of a situation one would suggest that you seek the help of a professional, but I would recommend that you do it by your self just the way I did it.

The things you require include a pencil, pliers and a scale.

Provide a lower action to adjust the bridge and straighten the neck. Then measure the distance of each string from the 12th fret. If there is any gap note it. Using a pencil make a mark on the bridge where you want the strings to touch it. Usually the mark is 1/32" from the bottom of the saddle. In the next step you have to remove the strings and with the help of pliers remove the saddle.

With the help of the ruler make a mark and after doing it use a sand paper on the flat surface of the saddle. The flat surface if covered by a sand paper can help in keeping the sanding even all through the saddle. Now after doing all this if you still find some gap then by keeping the pencil steady, simply rub the saddle and remove the unwanted part until a perfect height is not reached

Now slide the newly shaped saddle back and restring and tune up your guitar. If you still face some problems then you should repeat the steps one more time and finally you will succeed on lowering the action of an acoustic guitar for sure. After performing all these steps if the problem still persists then it is surely a structural problem so it better to consult a professional in this case. Best of luck!
