Google Books is academic resource
Google is funding 12 research projects, universities, to take advantage of its digital collection. The study is based mainly on the teaching of the language used in the history of titles.
The worlds largest search engine said that traditional historians and other academics to review the book individually analyzed for their content. He says this approach is still valid, but resources such as Google Book Search means it is now possible to perform automated, large-scale analysis.
One of the examples it gives you a way historians study the book in particular era to track changes in the language and see what gives lessons on how society is changing. At the moment researchers with limited resources are often based their work on a limited number of texts, usually by the best-known writers of days. Googles vision is that it may be possible to carry out the analysis of each book written at that time(or at least anyone who has survived and were scanned.)
The company introduces a two-pronged approach to making this a reality. is given unrestricted grants worth almost a million dollars to 12 projects for the next year , and can renew them after that. And this is the extension of the historical books(both in the form of text, scanning and) makes publicly available, along with related data in charts.
Among the projects that received funding through the ancient sites is Google, which uses Google Earth to let users search for books both space and time. Other projects use the same amount of books to try to improve Googles automated translation techniques of historical documents.
Of course, when it is actually beneficial effects, probably on the move is not fully justified by the company. Subsidies and increase access, it can also be designed to crush the movement in academia that commercial companies like Google is not in the best position to get a degree of control over such historical literature.
