Tablet Size: Too Big or Too Small?
The tablet market though being just a burgeoning one, already can strike a consumer's imagination with a variety of sizes and form-factors offered. What's more, every alternative has its own advantages and disadvantages even not connected with their inner functionalities. When the iPad was released, Jobs positioned it as a completely new form factor device, different from what has already been presented at the market. It could have meant that the chosen parameter would remain unstable, patterned and repeated by other manufacturers but, fortunately, it has not happened. Now, customers have a range of alternatives to choose from.
First of all, it must be noted that every manufacturer proclaims its size to be the best to suit customers' needs. Virtually, they are all right as it all depends on how the gadget is going to be used. But at the same time it means that all of these tablets have their disadvantages or at least some features which can be regarded in that way.
10 inches of the iPad screen are nice for web-surfing and video-streaming as well as for diverse apps displayed at the App Store. At the same time one has to carry a special bag for it and hold it tightly when using.
Dell's Streak is vice versa too small to enjoy watching shows and playing games but at the same time it is quite convenient to put it into an inner pocket of a jacket and, what's more, it can receive calls as an ordinary smartphone.
Samsungs' Galaxy is splendid both for reviewing apps created by Android developers and at the same time it is quite convenient to hold it in one hand. What's more, mobile app developers are sure that most of apps from the Android Market will suit the gadget after several adjustments. It's good news, especially after Google representatives have stated that apps from the on-line store will not run on new tablet devices. So, Galaxy users will not have to wait for apps created specially for that device, like for example, Folio's owners. At the very launch of the device there will be enough apps to try all its functionalities and, hopefully, enjoy their flawless performance.
So, as one can see, the vociferous criticism of Steve Jobs who has defamed all other tablet form-factors except for the iPad, one is quite a biased one. Numerous malicious attacks of Apple's CEO can be attributed to his desire to position its own iPad as a device of unparalleled quality and advantages. He has made his choice. Now it's high time for consumers to make theirs.
