RIM are introducing there new Blackberry Playbook; a touch sensitive tablet with a huge 7 inch screen. The Playbook is due for release in the UK and Europe in summer of 2011, but within the first quarter of 2011 for the US. The super advanced tablet will be competitively priced and it is boasting a rather impressive spec list. The Tablet will have 1GHz processor under the hood which will be teamed up with a high performance graphics processing unit for optimized visuals.

The 7 inch capacitive touch screen will utilize the multi-touch input method and will be calibrated to recognize a varied selection of gestures and multi-touch commands. The WSVGA pixel setup of 1024 x 600 will be able to handle complex imagery and create a crisp view of web pages, videos and photos, the visuals are truly gorgeous and the touch technology supports the pinch and spread zoom motion.

With the Playbook running on the Blackberry Tablet OS it will support symmetric multiprocessing and general multi-tasking; the advanced tablet will have a 1GB RAM, but there have been 16GB and 32GB versions spotted about. It will run extremely fast and provide a super smooth user experience with tons of storage space for photos, videos, applications and music files.

The browser supports multi-tab activities, bookmarks and flash content; the device can run almost any type of application; with a flexible application platform which can support WebKit/HTML-5, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Adobe AIR, Adobe Reader, POSIX, Open GL and Java. The Playbook relies on Wi Fi to connect to the internet but rumour has that RIM intend to release 3G and 4G versions of the tablet in the future.

Dual HD cameras are placed on the back (5MP) and front (3MP) of the Playbook with the ability to record super smooth 1080p HD videos and capture high clarity still imagery. The device is compatible with an array of audio and video file types and a 3.5mm connection allows users to plug in a set of headphones for personal listening. You will get an HDMI connection for playback on the big screen and a microUSB connection for PC or laptop synchronization.

Access to the Blackberry Messenger is a standard feature on all the current Blackberry models, even the new Playbook. The tablet can send and receive texts, MMS and e-mails as well as handle live conversations via IM and face to face calls thanks to the front mounted camera. RIM has packed the phone with advanced Bluetooth technology for wireless hardware communication and you also get GPS.

The Blackberry Playbook is an ideal alternative to a laptop, but may be considered a little big as a substitute to your everyday mobile phone. The Playbook is great for large multimedia collections and provides a great platform for users to surf the web or manage there social networks. This is a highly anticipated piece, the Blackberry Playbook is a high tech tablet which performs super fast and delivers a very smooth user experience.
